Industry driven Inspection & Verification

Like human vision, image processing helps see, identify and process images. In image processing as the name suggests, the input is a low-quality image and the output an image with improved quality. Common image processing tasks includes image enhancement, restoration, encoding, and compression.
Computer Vision

Computer Vision is an interdisciplinary field that deals with how computers can gain high-level understanding from digital images or videos. It is concerned with automatic extraction, analysis, and understanding of useful information from a single or sequence of images. The image data can take many forms such as video sequences, inputs from multiple cameras or multi-dimensional data from medical devices. Some application areas of Computer Vision are : Machine Vision, Medicine, Autonomous Vehicles, and Surveillance.

Applications of Image Processing

Automatic Inspection

Quality Control- automatic inspection to detect and identify defects in manufacturing early to save time and costs of passing defective products downstream and avoid recalls.

This application in manufacturing industry also called Machine Vision involves extracting information for the purpose of supporting a manufacturing process. Quality Control is an application where finished products are automatically inspected to find defects.

Remote Sensing

In remote sensing image acquisition is done by on-site observation without actual contact with the object. It can be used for many applications such as crop surveillance, land survey for installations, roof area detection in solar panel installation, drone surveillance for a wide range of applications.

Mapping is a similar application where measurement of position and orientation is done such as in detecting the objects to be picked by a robot arm.

Biometric Verification

Biometric verification involves the recognition of human characteristics by using efficient algorithms. The applications today focus on access control, health and mask compliance, visitor management and security.
